Frequently Asked Questions

Which browsers does the PDF Junky extension support?

The extension is built as an unpacked Chrome extension and works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera. Any Chromium-based browser that supports Developer Mode and “Load unpacked” can install the same .zip and use the Send to PDF Junky button on any page.

Is it available in the Chrome Web Store?

Not yet — a Chrome Web Store listing is coming soon. For now you download the .zip from this page, unzip it, open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, and click Load unpacked. Installation takes under a minute and updates are just a new .zip download.

How does it handle paywalled or JavaScript-heavy pages?

The extension captures the live DOM from your logged-in browser session, so any page you can already read in your browser — including paywalled articles you've signed into and JS-heavy dashboards — gets sent to the Converter cleanly. It never scrapes anonymously or tries to defeat access controls you don't already have.

What does the extension strip out before sending to PDF Junky?

The Cleanser pass removes navigation bars, sidebars, ads, cookie banners, and footers, then hands the article body — text, images, and formatting — off to the Transformer for rebranding. You end up with a document focused on real content instead of the chrome around it.

Do I need a PDF Junky account to use the extension?

Yes — the extension opens the Converter inside your PDF Junky account so it can save, brand, and export the document. You can start with the free plan (3 PDFs per month) to try the full capture-to-PDF flow before upgrading to Pro or Agency.
